Your questions about the adapted hearing protector
The exact cost depends on various factors, such as the number of people to be equipped with hearing protection and the type of hearing protection required. We are pleased to submit you an individual offer.
Hearing aids amplify sounds in the environment. They are therefore used when a hearing loss has already occurred. The custom hearing protection from Silentics, on the other hand, ensures that such a hearing loss does not occur in the first place.
SNR (Single Number Rating) is an average value, calculated over the frequencies relevant to hearing protection (63, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 8000 Hz). It indicates the average reduction of the sound level in dB (decibel).
The legal requirements for occupational safety stipulate that hearing protection must be provided from a daily exposure of 80 dB(A) or 135 dB(A) in the case of impulse noise.
From 85 dB(A) or 137 dB(A) for impulse noise, hearing protection must be worn permanently.
The decibel scale is logarithmic. Subjectively, a noise level of 95 dB is perceived to be twice as loud as 85 dB. Physically measured, this difference actually shows a tenfold increase in sound pressure.
It is generally assumed that long-term daily exposure of 85 dB leads to hearing loss. Such a noise situation makes it essential to wear suitable hearing protection. A daily exposure of 8 hours at 85 dB is as dangerous as 88 dB for 4 hours. Increasing the sound level by a further 3 dB halves the corresponding period again.
By using high quality materials, the custom made Silentics hearing protection is very durable. On average you can assume a durability of about 5 years.
We recommend to check the custom hearing protectors for which the warranty will expire soon. If they are still effective, your employees can continue to use their hearing protectors safely. However, if they no longer provide sufficient attenuation, the hearing protection must be replaced.
Yes, the custom made Silentics hearing protection is optionally also available as detectable, and can therefore be used in the food industry without any problems.
The custom hearing protection from Silentics can be used for 5 years on average. Due to the significantly longer life span (compared to standard hearing protection), the investment pays off after a short time. Check it yourself with our cost calculation for custom hearing protection.
The attenuation filters of the custom Silentics hearing protectors ensure a safe protection of your hearing. However, it is still possible to conduct information-containing conversations and warning signals remain hearable.
The ear mouldings are taken by qualified employees of Silentics GmbH or by a partner hearing care professional under consideration of all legal and hygienic rules and regulations.

While you are waiting for the new hearing protection, please remember to provide your employee with other personal hearing protection such as disposable earplugs or ear muffs.
Complete attenuation of noise is physically impossible, as sound is transmitted to the inner ear not only through the air but also through the bones.
The EN 458 standard therefore stipulates that the remaining sound level at the ear should be between 70 and 75 dB(A).
The custom hearing protection from Silentics is certified in accordance with all legal requirements and fulfils all requirements to protect your hearing.
If the noise situation in your company changes or an employee moves to another noise area, the filters of the custom Silentics hearing protectors can be changed accordingly.
The functional test for tightness and protective effect of the custom hearing protection is required by law. During this test, the hearing ability is measured with and without hearing protection. In this way, it is immediately apparent if the attenuation of the hearing protection is too strong or too weak, and you and your employees can be sure that the hearing protection fulfils all occupational safety guidelines.
Any dirt in the sound channel of the hearing protection can easily be removed with the cleaning loop that you received together with your Silentics hearing protection.
Superficial dirt can be removed with special cleaning cloths, which you can order easily in our online shop Gehoerschutz-Versand.de.
You will find further information about cleaning and care in the instruction manual, which you received together with your hearing protection.
